This project is our submission to the international interior design competition Design Parade Toulon #4, which theme was « a room for a Mediterranean villa ». Shortlisted amongst the ten finalists, we were invited to build our living-room up, in the Ancien évêché in Toulon.

Our project is a living room without any furniture, built like a collage of surfaces and simple shapes, focusing on textures, materials, temperature, light, colours…

Entering the room, the visitor faces a large and thin curtain that softly waves with the wind. Through this textile screen, he can have a glimpse of the blury colours of what lies behind: a floor covered with woven-rice-straw mats, colourful frescos on the walls and ceiling as well as objects, vases, books… that inhabit the space.

In this «furniture-less» room, people are invited to fully connect to the materials, textures and colours that surround them: to lie down directly on the woven straw floor, to lean on one of the ceramic-covered low wall, to enjoy the colourful frescos that remind of Corsican landscapes.
